Agra, Sep 28: Swami Chaitanyanand Saraswati, also known as Partha Sarathy, has been arrested in connection with multiple allegations of sexual harassment against women students. The accused is the director of the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management, located in Delhi’s upscale Vasant Kunj area.

Chaitanyanand stands accused of targeting female post-graduate management diploma students enrolled under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) scholarship program. The case came to light after the Indian Air Force headquarters filed a formal complaint against him for molestation.

Officials revealed that the accused fled the institute on August 4, shortly after the complaint surfaced. Investigators stated that Chaitanyanand would summon female students to his room late at night and threaten to fail or downgrade them if they resisted his inappropriate advances.

So far, police have recorded statements from three institute wardens who are alleged to have assisted the accused in deleting incriminating WhatsApp messages. Chats recovered from around 50 female students reveal a disturbing pattern of abuse spanning 16 years, including sexually explicit messages and forced physical contact.

Further allegations include tampering with CCTV footage, and the institute’s DVR has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.

Seventeen women formally filed complaints at the Defence Colony Police Station in early August, triggering a police investigation. Chaitanyanand has reportedly been exploiting women for nearly two decades, having previously escaped molestation charges in 2009 and 2016.

At the time of the recent complaints, Chaitanyanand was believed to be in London but was later tracked down to Agra. He initially sought anticipatory bail from the Delhi High Court but withdrew the petition shortly after.

Adding to the ongoing probe, police seized his luxury red Volvo car, which was found to be fitted with multiple forged number plates bearing fake United Nations insignia—a fabrication confirmed by investigators.

The investigation is currently ongoing as authorities continue to unravel the extent of the accused’s misconduct.
