Belagavi, Sep 25: In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old youth died by suicide after leaving behind a bizarre death note in Kapileshwar Road, Belagavi city.
The deceased has been identified as Siddanth Poojary, who was employed at a clothing store and was unmarried. On September 24, he reportedly took the extreme step by hanging himself at his residence. Upon learning of the incident, Khadebazar police rushed to the spot and during investigations recovered a death note from Siddanth’s mobile phone, which left the officers stunned.

Police revealed that Siddanth had listed several reasons for his death, including some unusual statements. His father, however, alleged that the administration of the famous Kapileshwar temple was responsible for his son’s death.
The death note contained statements such as, “I am going up. If I meet God there, I will ensure that those who troubled me are punished by Him.” He also mentioned that though mutton was served during his grandmother’s death rites, the same should not be done for his own ceremonies.
The note further stated that Siddanth’s life had been ruined after some individuals at the temple, where he once worked as a priest, falsely implicated him in a rape case three years ago. “My life, which was going well, was destroyed from then on,” the note read.
He also mentioned that he had intended to end his life before Ganesh Chaturthi but postponed it to celebrate the festival. He wrote, “Those who falsely accused me will be punished by God. No one should cry for me as it will hurt my soul. I cannot say more as I am no longer alive, read this note instead.”
Khadebazar ACP visited the spot and conducted inquiries. Police have registered a case and are investigating the exact reasons that led Siddanth to take this step.
