Mangaluru, Sept 21: In yet another case of cyber fraud, a city resident was duped of Rs 10,99,426 after falling prey to an online part-time job racket.
Police sources said the victim had received a message on WhatsApp offering part-time work related to online tasks. Responding to it, he was later added to a Telegram group by the fraudsters.

Initially, the victim was asked to complete simple tasks, and small amounts of money were credited to his account to win his trust. However, between March 24 and September 5, he was manipulated into transferring a total of Rs 10.99 lac to accounts specified by the conmen.
When the promised returns never came, the victim realised he had been cheated and lodged a complaint. A case has been registered at the Urwa Police Station.
Police have urged the public to remain cautious about part-time job offers on social media and messaging platforms.
