Mangaluru: Killer KSRTC bus that ended 3 lives in 2 accidents, now involved in third

Mangaluru, Sep 21: A KSRTC bus, previously involved in two separate fatal accidents, has now been part of a third incident, seriously injuring two young men. The earlier accidents claimed the lives of a father and son, as well as a good Samaritan who was helping schoolchildren cross a highway.

The KSRTC bus (KA 19 F 3317) collided head-on with a car near Ujirandipalke in Maninalkoor village, Bantwal taluk, on September 20. Dikshith from Parardottupalke and Dhanush from Madadka in Kavala Mudoor village sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a private hospital.

It was later revealed that the same bus had been involved in two previous fatal accidents.

The first occurred on June 6, 2025, when the bus struck and killed 28-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Zahid on National Highway 75 near Farangipete, Bantwal taluk. Zahid was reportedly helping schoolchildren safely cross the road when the speeding bus hit him, killing him on the spot.

Earlier, on May 11, 2025, the bus was involved in a serious accident at Kuvettila near Kabaka on the Mani-Mysuru National Highway, claiming the lives of Arun Kulal (45), a member of Narikombu Grama Panchayat, and his son Dhyan (15). Arun Kulal died at the scene, while Dhyan succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities and public representatives are urged to take immediate action. While two fatal accidents could be coincidental, a third clearly raises serious concerns. Reports indicate that KSRTC drivers were reluctant to operate this bus even after the second accident.

It's not the problem with the bus but problem with the driver of the bus and the people who are driving the vehicles and riding two wheelers on our roads. Nothing is going to change until people get to realise the value of human life. First clean up the corrupt RTO who issue driving licences to people who have no knowledge of basic traffic rules and road discipline. Impose heavy penalties and punishment to those who violate the laws and cancel driving licence. You can see children aged 12 riding two wheelers on our busy roads with two pillion riders. This happens only because there's no fear of laws in our country because of corruption in our public administration system. Why blame the Bus 🚌 and cars, trucks.

Something happens in Workshops also. Better to find out the politics of workshop mechanics also. Then blame comes on driver who is made scapegoat. Whatever the reason is since it is a succesive accident better to sack the driver.

Quote from the article, "Reports indicate that KSRTC drivers were reluctant to operate this bus even after the second accident." Clearly, the drivers knew something was seriously wrong with the bus. Still the bus was operated and someone in KSRTC must be held responsible for this.

Mistakes are meant for learning, not repeating. Only right punishment can teach him how to learn/regret and reform.

Repeated accidents proves that he is a careless driver also never bothered about passengers safety. It's time to withdraw or cancel his driving license for life. Enough is enough.

This assumes it was the same driver in all 3 cases? Maybe bus maintenance service records need to be checked. OR Bus time table may be too aggressive causing the drivers to speed just to be in time for their next stop.
