Bengaluru, Sep 20: A senior software engineer earning an annual salary of Rs 30 lac has found an unusual way to escape loneliness—working as a Rapido bike driver on weekends.

According to a viral post on X by user @saad_akbar10, the Oracle employee said he began riding for Rapido not for extra income but to connect with people and break free from the isolation of corporate life.

The techie shared that despite a high-paying job, he feels cut off from friends and family due to his hectic schedule. “Money is not the reason. I just want to meet people and talk to them. Driving for Rapido lets me be myself and interact with strangers,” he told a passenger during a ride on his TVS Ronin bike.

He added that constant work pressure left him feeling lonely and mentally drained. By picking up passengers, he enjoys conversations that help him cope with the solitude.

The story has sparked discussion online about mental health challenges faced by well-paid professionals. Many users commented that true happiness matters more than a fat paycheck, while others noted how demanding corporate culture often pushes people to seek alternative social connections.
