Bombay HC gets second bomb threat in a week; email turns out to be hoax

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 19: The Bombay High Court on Friday morning received yet another bomb threat email — the second such instance in a week — but it turned out to be a hoax after security teams carried out thorough checks, officials confirmed.

The email, warning of a blast on the court premises in south Mumbai, was received on the High Court’s official ID early morning. Immediately, teams from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the dog squad conducted an extensive search of the complex. However, no suspicious object was found.

Court proceedings resumed on time, without disruption.

Notably, on September 12, the High Court had received a similar threat email, which forced suspension of hearings for a few hours. A case was registered then against unidentified persons.

Police are probing the latest threat and are working to trace the source of the email.
