Udupi, Sep 18: On the auspicious occasion of the 90th birthday of Dr Ramadas M Pai, Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), the institution has announced the issuance of the Manipal Arogya Card to all Yakshagana artists. This initiative aims to ensure better health management and welfare support for the Yakshagana artists who contribute significantly to the cultural heritage.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished MAHE dignitaries including Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor - MAHE, Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor - MAHE, Dr Narayan Sabhahit, pro vice chancellor (Technology and Science) - MAHE, Dr Sharath Rao, pro vice chancellor (Health sciences) – MAHE, Giridhar Kini, registrar - MAHE, Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi, COO – Manipal Cluster Hospitals and Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. The program was also graced by cultural stalwarts Patla Sathish Shetty, founder president, Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation, Mangalore and Shri P Kishan Hegde, president - advisory committee, Yakshagana Kendra MAHE alongside several Yakshagana artists.
The Manipal Arogya Card is set to provide comprehensive health benefits, facilitating prompt and efficient healthcare access for the Yakshagana artists, recognizing their invaluable contribution to the region’s rich performing arts.
This initiative reflects MAHE’s commitment to supporting community welfare and preserving regional art forms, honoring the vision and legacy of Chancellor Dr. Ramadas M Pai on this significant milestone.
