Amaravati, Sep 17: Seven members of a family, including a child, were killed in a tragic road accident on Wednesday in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district when the car they were travelling in was hit by a speeding sand-laden tipper truck. The accident occurred on the national highway near Peramana in Sangam mandal.
According to police, the tipper was reportedly travelling on the wrong side of the road when it crashed into the car, dragging it for some distance before coming to a halt. The force of the collision crushed the car completely, killing all seven occupants instantly. Authorities had to use a JCB machine to pull the mangled vehicle from under the tipper, and it took them nearly four hours to retrieve the bodies.

The victims were identified as Tallur Srinivasulu, Tallur Radha, Sesham Sheramma, Sesham Balavengayya, Tellagundla Srinivasulu, Tellagundla Lakshmi, and Kathi Brahmayya. The family, residents of Nellore, had been on their way to a hospital in Atmakur to visit a relative when the accident occurred. The bodies were sent to the government hospital in Atmakur for post-mortem examinations.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep shock over the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He ordered an inquiry into the accident and directed officials to take strict action against those responsible. He also assured full support from the government to the families of the deceased.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed his sorrow and noted rising public anger over the reckless driving of heavy vehicles, especially those carrying sand and construction material. He urged officials to take firm action to prevent such tragedies. State ministers Anam Ramnarayan Reddy and Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy also conveyed their condolences and expressed grief over the loss of lives.
