New Delhi, Sep 16: Kanara Cultural Association (KCA) Delhi held a grand celebration of The Feast of Nativity of Our Lady - Montiche fest on September 14, at Sahoday School Auditorium. The beautiful decorations and the array of vegetables enhanced the solemnity of the occasion and reminded us of the celebrations in home town. KCA received an overwhelming participation from KCA members and their families, including new members as well. There was a good response from priests and religious sisters.
The event began with the procession of Infant Mary statue to show love and devotion to beloved Mother Mary, followed by veneration and the Holy Eucharist in Konkani. The main celebrant for the mass was bishop Deepak Valerian Tauro, auxiliary bishop of Delhi Arch diocese accompanied by Fr Vincent D’Souza, vicar general of Delhi Arch diocese, Fr Vincent Crasta, Fr Anil Almeida SJ, Fr Rohan Sequira, Fr Ravi Sagar, Fr Nelson and Fr Sunil Crasta, spiritual director of KCA. After the mass Murdhom candles were distributed to the sponsors and Novem was blessed and served to all.
































KCA spiritual director Fr Sunil Crasta thanked all the priests for their participation. The AGM began soon after the tea break, by welcoming the KCA members and observing a few moments of silence for the beloved departed KCA members. Merlin Frank, cultural secretary of KCA read the report of the activities held for the year 2024-25 and circulated the same. The annual audited accounts of the KCA for the year 2024-25 were presented by Sachin Vas, treasurer. After that election for the new committee was held where Melvin Lobo was elected president, Godfrey Frank as secretary, Ashita Pinto as joint secretary, Anil Pereira as treasurer, Fr Vincent D'Souza as spiritual director. Soon after the election, dance was performed by Geona Frank. Games were conducted by vidyajyoti Jesuit brothers. A short felicitation program was organized by the members of KCA for the children. Children up to class 12th were felicitated by Fr Vijay Baretto and Fr Sunil Crasta. The winners of the games were felicitated by Vincent Menezes. The new president of KCA Melvin Lobo, conducted the hamper draw and three lucky people bagged the hamper given by Vincent Menezes.
KCA outgoing president Vincent Menezes thanked all the priests and religious, for their active participation. He also highlighted those who sponsored for the smooth functioning of the programme, members of the executive committee who tirelessly worked for the same. The programme was ended with the festive meal and Baila dance. Around 230 KCA members were present for the Feast Day.
