Solapur, Sept 11: In a shocking case from Solapur district, a 38-year-old married businessman was found dead inside his car with a bullet wound to the head. Police have arrested a 21-year-old Lavani dancer on charges of abetment to suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Govind Jagannath Barge, a resident of Beed. He was married and a father of two. His body was discovered in a car parked at Sasure village in Barshi Taluka on Tuesday morning, following which the Vairag police were alerted. A pistol was recovered from the vehicle.

Initially, the case was registered as a suicide. However, after further inputs, the police began probing all possible angles, including murder.

Investigations revealed that Govind was allegedly in a relationship with Pooja Devidas Gaikwad, a Lavani dancer associated with Pargaon Kala Kendra and resident of Sasure village. Govind had reportedly gifted her gold jewellery and a mobile phone worth nearly Rs 2.5 lakh. However, frequent quarrels had strained their relationship in recent days. On Monday night, Govind had reportedly driven to Pooja’s residence.

Following the incident, Govind’s brother-in-law, Laxman Jagannath Chavan, filed a complaint alleging that Pooja had been blackmailing Govind for money and had threatened to file a rape case against him. He further claimed that Govind was disturbed and mentally harassed due to her actions.

Based on the complaint, the police arrested Pooja Gaikwad under charges of abetment to suicide. Further investigations are underway.
