New Delhi, Sep 10: The family dispute over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s assets took a new turn on Wednesday, with his mother Rani Kapur questioning the validity of his purported will in the Delhi High Court.
Appearing on her behalf, senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar told the court that the 80-year-old was kept in the dark about her son’s estate. “Rs 10,000 crore worth of assets should have been mine… but I was not informed of any will. I sent 15 e-mails, not a word was shared,” he said, alleging a deliberate cover-up.

Gaggar also claimed that shares of Sona Comstar worth Rs 500 crore were sold to a Singapore entity without informing Rani Kapur. “We don’t know who sold them. None of the documents were shared,” he added.
The bench has directed all parties to disclose the full list of assets as of June 12 — the day of Sunjay Kapur’s sudden death. The case was originally filed by his children with actor Karisma Kapoor — Samaira and Kiaan Raj — accusing their stepmother Priya Sachdeva of “forging and fabricating” a will. The suit also names Rani Kapur and Shradha Suri Marwah, alleged executor of a will dated March 21, 2025.
Beyond the legal battle, Rani Kapur has raised serious suspicions about her son’s death, writing to UK authorities to demand an inquiry. She alleged “possible murder, conspiracy and financial fraud” and urged officials to rule out natural causes.
Her daughter, Mandhira Kapur Smith, echoed the concerns: “For us, it was my mum’s son, for me it was a brother. When was his last medical test done? He was fit. Who is giving us answers?” she told ANI.
The escalating row has now entangled questions of inheritance, corporate control, and allegations of foul play, putting the future of Sona Comstar under sharp public and legal scrutiny.
