Bengaluru: Konkani Catholics of Whitefield celebrate Monthi Fest with devotion and family spirit

Bengaluru, Sep 10: The Konkani Catholic community of Whitefield gathered with joy and devotion to celebrate Monthi Fest at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitefield, Bengaluru, marking the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The day began with a solemn Mass celebrated by Dr Fr Victor Lobo, vice-chancellor of St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru. In his homily, Fr Lobo spoke of Monthi Fest as a time of gratitude, family togetherness, and faith.

A highlight of the celebration was the blessing and distribution of the new harvest (Novem), symbolizing thanksgiving and abundance. Children and families also took part in the touching tradition of showering flowers on Baby Mary, filling the church with colour, devotion, and joy.

Organizers expressed their gratitude for the enthusiastic participation of parishioners and thanked the Konkani Kutam Whitefield team and volunteers for making the celebration meaningful and memorable.

Monthi Fest, rooted in faith and family, continues to bring Konkani Catholics together in Whitefield, Bangalore every year, keeping traditions alive for the next generation.
