Box Office struggle: The Bengal files and Baaghi 4 falter

New Delhi, Sep 9: Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files and Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, released on September 5, are struggling to make an impact at the box office. Both films faced the crucial Monday test on September 8, with disappointing results.

The Bengal Files earned Rs 1.10 cr on Monday, taking its total to Rs 7.85 cr after an opening day collection of Rs 1.75 cr, according to Sacnilk.

Baaghi 4, which had a strong Sunday, witnessed a sharp fall on Monday, collecting only Rs 4.25 cr , bringing its total to Rs 35.50 cr.
Meanwhile, The Conjuring: Last Rites, released last Friday, is clearly racing ahead of both films.

The Bengal Files is the third installment in Vivek Agnihotri’s Files trilogy, following The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022). The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Saswata Chatterjee, Anupam Kher, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Darshan Kumar. “This lesser known bloodied chapter about Indian history needed a much more nuanced filmmaking. The imagery is in your face and the performances are screechy and over the top.”

The Baaghi franchise, which established Tiger Shroff as a leading action hero, failed to impress with its fourth installment. “Shroff has the chops to plunge headlong into action sequences, but what can an actor do when what is on paper is only superficially visceral and lacks the punch to inject credibility into the protagonist’s exploits,” the review added.
