Hathras, Sep 7: A six-year-old girl was brutally murdered in a Hathras village after she allegedly witnessed a woman and a teenager in a compromising position. Police have arrested the woman and detained the 17-year-old boy in connection with the crime.

The victim, Urvi, went missing around 10 am on Wednesday while a family function was underway at her home. Her body was later recovered around 1.30 pm from an abandoned well, stuffed inside a jute bag with a cloth tied around her neck. The post-mortem report confirmed death by strangulation.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Singh said the girl had threatened to reveal what she saw to her father. “The two accused strangled her to death, stuffed the body in a sack and dumped it in the well,” he stated.

Police said the 30-year-old woman had been in a relationship with the boy for about three months. On the day of the incident, with her husband and mother-in-law away, she called him to her house. When the child walked in, she was silenced.

The woman has confessed to the crime. Police also noted fresh bite marks on her hand, believed to have been inflicted by the victim in her desperate attempt to escape.
