Noida, Sep 5: A shocking case has come to light in Greater Noida where a 23-year-old hairdresser, who also worked as a grocery delivery boy, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly blackmailing a woman with explicit videos after threatening her children at knifepoint.

According to police, the incident dates back to July when the accused, identified as Gaurav, visited the victim’s apartment in Greater Noida under the pretext of delivering milk and groceries. Once inside, he allegedly pulled out a knife and held it to the neck of her minor son, who was asleep at the time. He then forced the woman to undress, recorded her pictures and videos, and began harassing her.

The woman, in her statement, said that Gaurav threatened to kill her children if she resisted. “He said he would throw my daughter into a drain. Fearing for their lives, I complied,” she told police.

Over the next two months, Gaurav allegedly continued to blackmail the woman, scaling her fourth-floor balcony at night and warning her not to approach police. Matters worsened on September 2 when he allegedly uploaded some of the videos online and shared them with the woman’s husband, who works in Ahmedabad. Terrified, the woman immediately called the emergency helpline.

Police said the accused fled his house before they arrived but was later arrested. An officer from Surajpur police station confirmed, “He has been booked under BNS sections 76 (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation), along with provisions of the IT act. His phone has been seized. We are investigating if he targeted other women as well.”

The arrest has sparked outrage in the locality, with residents demanding stricter safety measures and vigilance against delivery staff entering apartments unchecked.
