Jammu, Sep 5: Heavy rains, flash floods and landslides wreaked havoc in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, leaving 283 houses damaged and forcing the evacuation of nearly 950 people, officials said on Thursday.

According to authorities, the district also reported damage to 84 roads, 98 water supply schemes and 71 power feeders, severely affecting infrastructure and essential services.

Ramban Deputy Commissioner Alyas Khan informed that a sudden cloudburst on August 29 triggered flash floods and landslides in Drubla village of Rajgarh tehsil, leading to widespread destruction.

Rescue operations were launched to shift affected residents to safer locations as repair and restoration work continues across the district.
