Turin, Sep 1: Juventus continued their perfect start to the Serie A season as Dusan Vlahovic came off the bench to score the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Genoa on Sunday. The Serbia international, whose €12 million salary makes him the highest-paid player in the league, redirected a corner from teammate Filip Kostic in the 73rd minute to secure the win.
Despite Juventus’ attempts to offload Vlahovic before the end of his contract this season, the striker remains at the club, proving once again his importance to the Bianconeri. Goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio preserved the win with two critical saves in stoppage time.
Juventus, along with defending champions Napoli, promoted Cremonese, and Roma, have a perfect six points from the opening two rounds.
Elsewhere, Inter Milan, impressive in the opening round with a 5-0 win over Torino, faltered at home, losing 2-1 to udinese. Denzel Dumfries scored early for Inter, but a foul by him resulted in a penalty converted by Keinan Davis, followed by a goal from Arthur Atta before halftime. Federico Dimarco had a potential equalizer ruled out for offside, while young striker Francesco Pio Esposito made his Serie A debut but struggled to make an impact.
Lazio recorded a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Hellas Verona, with goals from Matteo Guendouzi, Mattia Zaccagni, Valentin Castellanos, and Boulaye Dia. Torino and Fiorentina played out a goalless draw.
