Ratnagiri, Aug 31: A 26-year-old woman, missing for two weeks, was found murdered in Ratnagiri, with police arresting her lover and two aides in connection with the crime.

The accused, identified as Durvas Darshan Patil, was held for killing his girlfriend, Bhakti Jitendra Mayekar, and dumping her body in a ditch at Amba Ghat.

Mayekar, a resident of Ratnagiri, had gone missing on August 17 after telling her family she was meeting a friend. Following a missing complaint, police traced her last location to the Khandala area through her mobile phone and soon zeroed in on Patil.

During interrogation, Patil confessed to the murder, admitting he killed Mayekar after frequent quarrels over his proposed marriage to another woman. He revealed that he dumped her body in Amba Ghat.

Police later recovered the victim’s body and arrested Patil along with his associates Vishwas Vijay Pawar and Sushant Shantaram Naralkar.
