Byndoor, Aug 30: A married woman who had arrived in Kollur two days ago has gone missing near the Souparnika river, sparking various speculations about her mysterious disappearance.

The missing woman has been identified as Vasudha Chakravarthy (46), daughter of C R Govindaraju, a resident of Tyagarajanagar, Bengaluru. She had arrived in Kollur on August 28 and parked her car near a private lodge before visiting the temple. After spending some time in the sanctum of Lord Anjaneya, she moved towards different shrines and later headed to the Souparnika river, where she went missing.

Despite extensive search operations by the police and local residents in and around the Souparnika river, no trace of her has been found. Her mobile phone and other belongings were recovered from the car, which helped authorities trace her identity and inform her family.

CCTV footage installed near the Souparnika river by the temple authorities captured her swimming far into the river. Vasudha, reportedly a good swimmer, was seen swimming a considerable distance. Whether she managed to reach the shore or was swept away by the strong current of the Souparnika river remains unclear.

Expert divers, including Ishwar Malpe, along with the fire and emergency services team, conducted search operations in different parts of the river. However, with no clues found till evening, the search was temporarily suspended.

Her parents and family members, who were informed of the incident, rushed to Kollur immediately. Vasudha, who is married and employed abroad, had in recent times been visiting various pilgrim and religious centers alone, showing a growing inclination towards meditation, according to family sources.

Police have appealed to the public to contact Kollur police station if anyone has information about the missing woman.
