Mangaluru, Aug 29: The department of psychology (UG), St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a workshop on 'Life skills and emotional well-being' aimed at empowering students to build resilience, develop a growth mindset, and prioritize mental and emotional health.
Akshatha Shetty, assistant professor, PG department of computer applications, served as the resource person for the session. The workshop emphasized self-awareness, self-care, and problem-solving as key components of overall well-being.







The event began with an interactive activity, clap-snap and hit, setting an energetic tone for the day. This was followed by discussions encouraging participants to value actions over possessions and to prioritize their own happiness as a foundation for supporting others.
Key messages included viewing success as a personal journey, avoiding unhealthy comparisons, and focusing on being accountable to oneself despite external judgments. Participants were urged to manage stress and pressure through positive thinking and mindful use of language.
The session underlined the importance of developing a growth mindset, standing up for oneself, and maintaining optimism in the face of adversity. Principles such as sowing positivity, building character, and always giving one’s best were highlighted.
The workshop concluded with the message: “The mind of the man is the man,” reinforcing the role of mindset in shaping life’s direction. The session was practical and inspiring, with students actively participating throughout.
Dr Hithakshi, head of the department, and Divya Ramachandran, assistant professor, were the convenors of the event. Tanvi D Ail, assistant professor, other were present.
