BJP slams Congress for abusive language against PM Modi during Bihar voter yatra

New Delhi, Aug 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fierce rebuttal against the Congress on Thursday, condemning its leadership for allegedly hurling abuses at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar.

At a press conference in the national capital, BJP MP Sambit Patra singled out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, dubbing him the “new Mani Shankar Aiyar” for repeatedly using derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister. Patra described this behavior as a reflection of the Opposition’s “arrogance and political frustration.”

Patra expressed deep concern over the language used by Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supporters in Bihar, calling it “deeply disturbing” and a “matter of shame” for a party that once proudly upheld the legacy of the freedom movement. “The same party that followed Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals has now become a ‘Gali Wali Congress’—a party owned by the Gandhi family,” he said.

Comparing Rahul Gandhi to controversial figures, Patra recalled former Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s past insults directed at PM Modi and said, “There is no difference between Rahul Gandhi, Mani Shankar Aiyar, and Sanjay Raut. Rahul Gandhi has now become the new Mani Shankar Aiyar of Congress.”

Patra also accused Rahul Gandhi of disrespecting constitutional institutions by branding them as “chor” (thieves) repeatedly. “Earlier, the party’s slogan was ‘Gali Gali Congress Hai’; today it has turned into ‘Gaali Wali Congress Hai’. If they believe abuses will win them political support, good luck to them. No one in India has ever advanced through insults,” he asserted.

Taking a swipe at Congress’s “Mohabbat ki Dukaan” campaign, Patra claimed the party has “opened the wrong kind of shop,” referring to a scandal involving a former Youth Congress president in Kerala who quit amid allegations of sending obscene messages. “The Congress’s version of love is filthy language and vulgar behavior,” he said.

Patra concluded by saying that the people of Bihar, heirs to a rich cultural and political heritage, would reject such conduct decisively. “PM Modi represents 140 crore Indians. Insulting him is insulting the nation itself. The INDIA alliance must reflect before it sinks further into political irrelevance,” he warned.
