Chandigarh, Aug 25: In a significant security operation, Punjab Police have successfully dismantled a terror module with the seizure of four hand grenades, a two-kilogram RDX-based IED, and communication equipment from a village near Batala. According to director general of police Gaurav Yadav, initial investigations suggest the explosives were sent under the direction of UK-based Babbar Khalsa International operative Nishan Singh, alias Nishan Jodia, who is believed to be acting on the instructions of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, with backing from the ISI.
One individual involved in the module has been arrested, while another remains on the run. Authorities are continuing efforts to apprehend the absconding suspect and uncover the full extent of the cross-border conspiracy.

Meanwhile, in a separate action, four operatives of the Devinder Bambiha gang were captured while allegedly planning a major robbery. The suspects — Satnam Singh alias Satti, Gurpreet alias Guri, Sarm Singh alias Rinku, and Deepak Singh — reportedly opened fire at police at a checkpoint before being overpowered and arrested along with their vehicle. A cache of weapons including one Zigana pistol, three country-made pistols, and multiple live cartridges were recovered during the arrest. Satnam Singh was found to have a long criminal history, with over 22 previous cases including charges of murder, attempted murder, and narcotics offences. Sarm Singh and Deepak Singh are also believed to have ties to drug trafficking networks.
Adding to the coordinated law enforcement efforts, the Counter Intelligence Unit of Jalandhar, in collaboration with other agencies, apprehended two gang shooters from Mumbai linked to a recent murder in SBS Nagar. The suspects, Karan Ganger (25) from Hoshiarpur and Jaskarandeep Singh alias Kallu (23) from Garhshankar, were allegedly involved in the killing, acting in collusion with US-based Jaskaran Singh. All three are associated with the Bambiha gang led by Lucky Patial. Police confirm that interrogation is ongoing and anticipate further revelations as the investigation continues.
