Ujjain, Aug 23: Tension flared in Ujjain late Friday night after a violent clash broke out between residents of two neighbouring colonies in the Pandyaa Kheri locality on Maksi Road. The confrontation, marked by stone-pelting and armed altercations, left at least three people injured and led to a rapid police response to prevent further escalation.
According to officials, the violence began when a group of youths allegedly armed with sticks, knives, and swords attacked the home of Narayan Singh. His brother Raghubir and other family members, including women who attempted to intervene, sustained injuries. All are currently receiving medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.
As news of the incident spread, members of a right-wing organisation arrived at the scene in support of the injured family, triggering intensified stone-pelting between the two sides.

Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Bhargav, along with personnel from two police stations, rushed to the area to contain the situation. Mild force was used to disperse the crowd, and a flag march was conducted to restore calm. Additional forces remain deployed in the area.
Eight individuals have been detained for questioning, including Aashif, Salman, Sonu, Kadar, Bheru, Chhotu, Shadab, and one other. Videos from the locality show police knocking on doors and questioning residents as part of their investigation.
Authorities have registered a case and assured that further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and those responsible for the violence.
