Mumbai, Aug 22: Expanding its footprint in Kerala, Akasa Air on Friday announced the addition of Kozhikode (Calicut) as the 30th destination in its fast-growing network. The airline will commence daily direct flights between Mumbai and Kozhikode from October 1.
“We are delighted to add Kozhikode as the 30th destination on our network, marking a milestone in Akasa Air’s growth story,” said Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder of Akasa Air. “Our daily Mumbai-Kozhikode service will not only strengthen connectivity between India’s financial capital and the Malabar coast but also boost trade, tourism and economic opportunities.”
Akasa Air, which operates a fleet of 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, has already placed an order for 226 more aircraft as part of its expansion plan.
Currently, the airline connects 24 domestic and six international cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kochi, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Ayodhya, Srinagar, Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City and Phuket, among others.
With the inclusion of Kozhikode, Akasa Air further cements its presence in Kerala, strengthening links between the state and the country’s key economic hubs.
