Congress wins first-ever Kadaba town panchayat polls with 8 seats, BJP wins 5

Kadaba, Aug 20: In the recently concluded Kadaba town panchayat elections, the Congress registered an impressive victory, winning a majority of the wards, while the BJP and other parties managed to make their presence felt in key constituencies.

The elections took place on held on August 17 and the vote counting was held on Wednesday August 20.

This was the very first time the people of Kadaba exercised their franchise to elect a town panchayat administration. Until recently, Kadaba was governed as a gram panchayat, but the area’s upgrade to a town panchayat brought new administrative responsibilities and higher expectations from voters. The election was fiercely contested, but Congress managed to edge ahead with a strategy built on local unity and close engagement with residents.

In Ward 1 (Kalara – Reserved for Backward Class ‘A’ Woman), Congress candidate Tamanna Jabeen secured 201 votes, defeating Independent candidate Zainabi, who polled 139. Sameera Harris of SDPI managed 74 votes, while BJP’s Prema failed to open her account.

Ward 2 (Kodibailu – Reserved for SC Woman) witnessed a closely fought contest where Kusuma Angadimane of JDS emerged victorious with 187 votes. Congress candidate Mohini trailed narrowly with 177 votes, while NOTA received 4.

In Ward 3 (Panya – General), Mohammed Faizal of Congress registered a sweeping win with 320 votes. BJP’s Adam Kundoli secured 75, while Harris Kalara (SDPI) and K Abdul Razak (Muslim League) garnered 6 and 2 votes respectively.

Ward 4 (Bedraje – General) saw Simon C J of Congress win with 232 votes, defeating BJP’s Ashok Kumar P, who managed 168.

In Ward 5 (Maleshwara – Reserved for Backward Class ‘A’), Hanif K M of Congress scored 297 votes, overcoming BJP’s Prakash N K, who polled 213.

Ward 6 (Kadaba – Reserved for General Woman) gave Congress yet another victory, with Neelavathi Shivaram securing 314 votes. BJP’s Prema secured 176, SDPI’s Swaliath Jaseera got 78, while Independent Alice Chacko ended with 16.

In Ward 7 (Panemajalu – Reserved for Backward Class ‘B’), Congress’ Rohith Gowda triumphed with 333 votes against BJP’s Ganesh Gowda, who polled 248.

However, BJP bounced back in Ward 8 (Pijakkala – General), where Dayananda Gowda P secured 386 votes, defeating Congress’ Ashraf Shedigundi, who got 184.

Ward 9 (Mooraje – Reserved for Backward Class ‘A’) saw a tight contest with Congress candidate Krishnappa Poojary winning 263 votes, narrowly defeating BJP’s Kunjanna Kudradka, who managed 235. NOTA received 5 votes.

In Ward 10 (Doddkoppa – Reserved for General Woman), BJP’s Gunavathi Raghuram secured a convincing victory with 393 votes against Congress’ Tulasi, who got 258. Nine voters opted for NOTA.

Ward 11 (Kodimbala – Reserved for General Woman) was another nail-biter, with BJP’s Akshatha Balakrishna Gowda edging out Congress’ Jyothi D Kolpe by just 10 votes – 265 to 255.

BJP continued its winning streak in Ward 12 (Majjaro – Reserved for SC Candidate), where Mohan secured 306 votes, defeating Congress’ Umesh Madyadka, who polled 238. Two voters chose NOTA.

Finally, in Ward 13 (Pulikukku – Reserved for ST Candidate), Congress’ Krishna Naik emerged victorious with 315 votes, defeating BJP’s Sadananda Naik, who secured 264.

With Congress securing a majority of wards and BJP putting up a strong fight in several segments, the results have set the tone for future political dynamics in the region.
