New Delhi, Aug 20: Panic gripped the national capital on Wednesday morning after nearly 50 schools across Delhi received bomb threats through e-mail, forcing authorities to swing into action with large-scale security checks.

Among the institutions that reportedly received the threats are Rahul Model School and Maxfort School in Dwarka, SKV in Malviya Nagar, and Andhra School in Prasad Nagar.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, alerts about suspicious e-mails at SKV Malviya Nagar and Andhra School, Prasad Nagar, were received at 7.40 am and 7.42 am, respectively. Police teams, fire service personnel, and bomb disposal squads rushed to the locations to conduct thorough inspections.

Officials confirmed that security drills, including building evacuations and searches, were carried out as precautionary measures.

This fresh wave of threats comes just two days after 32 schools in the capital received similar hoax bomb threats on August 18, which were later declared baseless after detailed checks.

Police have launched an investigation into the source of the latest e-mails and are examining whether they are linked to the earlier set of hoax threats.
