Bengaluru, Aug 20: Despite ongoing controversies surrounding actor Darshan, his upcoming film ‘The Devil’ is moving full steam ahead — with a theatrical release planned for later this year. The film’s production is complete, and final preparations are underway, according to the makers.
Directed by Prakash Veer and backed by Sri Jayamatha Combines, ‘The Devil’ is described as a big-budget action entertainer. Actress Rachita Ram stars opposite Darshan, with supporting roles played by Sharmiela Mandre, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Achyuth Kumar.

Darshan, who has maintained a low profile due to recent legal controversies, has reportedly extended full support to the film’s release, though he is expected to remain absent from promotional events following the cancellation of his bail. In a recent social media statement, his wife Vijayalakshmi conveyed his sentiments.
“Regardless of the current situation, I believe it is my foremost duty to stand by the director who trusted me with his vision and the producer who invested crores into this film. I hope all aspects of ‘The Devil’ proceed without hindrance, and I extend my full cooperation,” Darshan said, as quoted by Vijayalakshmi.
She also urged fans to view cinema purely as a medium of entertainment, reflecting the tone of her earlier public posts.
Buzz around the film has been steadily growing. The makers are reportedly targeting a December release, with an official date expected to be announced during the Vinayaka Chaturthi festival.
Adding to the excitement, the film’s first single, originally scheduled for Independence Day, will now be launched this weekend. Titled "Idre Nemdiyag Irbek", the track marks Darshan’s first collaboration with renowned music director Ajaneesh Loknath, making it a notable highlight of the album.
Cinematography for the film is handled by Sudhakar S Raj, with visuals expected to match the grand scale of production.
With Darshan off the publicity trail but backing the film from behind the scenes, 'The Devil' is gearing up to take centre stage — controversy or not.
