A humble beginning – A silver journey

AKFK was founded 25 years ago by a group of like-minded Konkani-speaking individuals in Kuwait. What began as small home gatherings to celebrate Mother Mary’s birthday (Monthi Fest) has today blossomed into a vibrant community platform under the St Daniel Comboni Parish, AVONA.

The uniqueness of AKFK lies in its inclusive spirit, uniting both Mangalurean and Goan Konkani-speaking communities. Over the years, it has created a strong cultural identity, giving parishioners opportunities to showcase their talents and celebrate traditions together.

Major activities & contributions of AKFK

• Monthi Fest – Flagship annual event celebrating Mangalurean harvest traditions.
• St Francis Xavier Feast – A significant celebration for the Goan community with love offerings.
• Christmas celebrations – Featuring children’s and adults’ competitions to promote participation.
• 20th anniversary celebration – Marked with a grand live concert by Kevin Misquith.
• Premier screening of Konkani movie ‘Nirmillem Nirmonem’ at American International School (2019).
• Charity initiatives – Financial aid for medical emergencies, visa issues, and support to parishioners in Kuwait. Assistance has also been extended to causes in Mangaluru, Udupi, and Goa, including support to Snehalaya Ashram.
• Annual get-together – A fun-filled day of games, music, food, and bonding for all Konkani parishioners.

Invitation to the community

AKFK president Norbert D’Souza, spiritual director Fr Avil Manoj Rosario, and the organizing committee have extended a warm invitation to all Konkani-speaking families in Kuwait and abroad to join this historic silver jubilee celebration.
