New York, Aug 17: A night of revelry turned into bloodshed in Brooklyn, New York, after multiple gunmen opened fire inside a hookah lounge and restaurant early Sunday, leaving three dead and eight injured.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 3.30 am at Taste of the City Lounge on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights. Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting followed a heated dispute inside the premises.
Police confirmed that three male victims, aged 27, 35 and one unidentified, succumbed to injuries, while five men and three women—the oldest being 61 years—were rushed to nearby hospitals. Authorities said their injuries are not life-threatening.
At least 36 shell casings were recovered from the crime scene. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that no arrests have been made so far and the probe is underway.
The mass shooting comes just days after another gun attack on August 9, when a teenager opened fire near New York’s busy Times Square, injuring three.
