London, Aug 17: Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank enjoyed a dream home debut as Richarlison struck twice in a 3-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
Frank, who took charge after Ange Postecoglou’s departure, saw his side bounce back from UEFA Super Cup heartbreak against PSG. Richarlison repaid the manager’s faith, opening the scoring from Mohammed Kudus’ cross before adding a spectacular bicycle kick. Brennan Johnson sealed the win with a composed finish.

Burnley, promoted with 100 points last season, looked out of depth and risk following the recent trend of promoted sides suffering immediate relegation.
Meanwhile, Sunderland marked their return to the Premier League in style, stunning West Ham 3-0. Eliezer Mayenda’s looping header opened the floodgates before Dan Ballard and Wilson Isidor completed the rout. Big-money signings, including Granit Xhaka, have strengthened the Black Cats, but it was their promotion heroes who made the difference.
Elsewhere, Newcastle were held to a 0-0 draw at Aston Villa despite Ezri Konsa’s red card. The Magpies sorely missed Alexander Isak, who is pushing for a Liverpool move. Manager Eddie Howe urged for a “quick resolution” to end the distraction.
Fulham snatched a late 1-1 draw at Brighton thanks to Rodrigo Muniz’s 96th-minute strike after Matt O’Riley’s penalty had put the hosts ahead.
Liverpool began their title defence on Friday with a thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Bournemouth, while Manchester City kick off their campaign later on Saturday against Wolves. Arsenal face Manchester United on Sunday in one of the weekend’s marquee fixtures.
