Daijiworld Media Network - Dharmavaram
Dharmavaram, Aug 16: A 42-year-old chef, Sheik Kothwal Noor Mohammad, was taken into custody in Sri Satyasai district on Saturday for alleged links with Pakistan-based terrorist outfits, including Jaish-e-Mohammad, officials said.
According to police, Mohammad was detained from Dharmavaram after his behaviour raised suspicions. Though no violent act has been committed, authorities said his exposure to extremist material and suspected affiliation with banned terror organisations prompted swift action.
“He only consumed content and got influenced, but didn’t execute any act or perhaps didn’t get the chance,” said Dharmavaram in-charge SDPO U. Narsingappa. “Training could have radicalised him.”

Literature Seized, Investigation Underway
Police have seized radical literature from Mohammad’s possession, which is now being examined. Authorities are also probing whether he was part of any online extremist networks or sleeper cells.
Mohammad, an Indian citizen and local resident, has ancestral roots in Dharmavaram. Police ruled out any foreign origin or cross-border entry.
“He is a native of Dharmavaram, and his forefathers also belong to the same region,” confirmed the SDPO.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials said further interrogation will determine his intent, connections, and possible future plans.
The case highlights the growing concern over online radicalisation and the need for community vigilance in identifying early signs of extremist influence.
