New Delhi, Aug 13: In a dramatic twist that has stunned fans and pundits alike, Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after being abruptly dropped from the squad ahead of the UEFA Super Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur. The decision, which comes despite the goalkeeper’s pivotal role in PSG’s historic treble-winning season, has sparked outrage from his camp and reignited transfer speculation.

Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, has hit out at PSG, accusing the club of showing “zero respect” for a player who helped secure their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.

Donnarumma’s exclusion has raised eyebrows across the footballing world, with many questioning how a world-class goalkeeper—widely regarded as one of the best in the game—could be pushed out after such a dominant campaign.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique took full responsibility for the decision, calling it a “difficult call,” but stood by his choice:

“Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. But this is elite football, and I am 100% responsible for the decision to leave him out.”

While Enrique’s comments suggest it was a tactical or squad management choice, Raiola insists the manner in which Donnarumma was dropped — after agreeing to reduced terms and amid ongoing negotiations — was disrespectful and poorly handled.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United are reported to be monitoring the situation closely, with potential transfer offers likely to follow in the coming days.

Donnarumma, who rose to prominence with AC Milan before joining PSG in 2021, had become a fan favourite in Paris, known for his clutch saves in critical Champions League moments.
