Jaipur, Aug 10: The BJP on Friday expelled its state spokesperson Krishna Kumar Janu for six years, citing indiscipline and failure to satisfactorily respond to a show-cause notice over comments made in June.
In its expulsion order, BJP state disciplinary committee chairperson Onkar Singh Lakhawat said Janu had been issued a notice on June 20 for objecting to the appointment of Harshini Kulhari as the party’s Jhunjhunu district president. Lakhawat said Janu’s reply was found unsatisfactory, leading to his removal.

However, the decision comes days after a video of Janu went viral, in which he criticised the BJP’s Jat leaders for remaining silent on what he described as the “humiliating” treatment of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor and ex-BJP national vice president Satya Pal Malik, and the unceremonious exit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar — both belonging to the Jat community.
In the video, Janu said the absence of a state funeral for Malik reflected the government’s “tiraskar” (disdain) and warned Jat leaders within the party that similar treatment could await them. He accused the current leadership of sidelining veteran figures such as L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha, Praveen Togadia, Sanjay Joshi, and Vasundhara Raje, and of reducing former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to a “puppet”.
Janu urged Jat leaders to speak against what he called the party’s wrong direction, noting that the community had historically opposed “inconsistencies” within Sanatan traditions and stood with reformers like Guru Nanak Dev, Jambhoji Maharaj and Dayanand Saraswati. He also criticised the absence of a farewell speech or function for Dhankhar, calling it against Jat cultural values and “a sign of arrogance in government”.
