Kaup: Youth dies after being hit by bus while crossing national highway

Kaup, Aug 8: A tragic accident claimed the life of a 24-year-old youth at Kaup on August 6, when he was hit by a private bus while crossing the national highway after collecting a food parcel from a hotel.

The deceased has been identified as Amaresh (24), a native of Koppal who was working as a daily wage labourer in the Udupi region and residing in a rented house in Kaup. The accident occurred when a private bus travelling from Mangaluru towards Udupi struck him.

Eyewitnesses stated that the impact dragged Amaresh for some distance before the driver lost control, causing the bus to ram into a roadside tree. Locals rushed to the scene and rescued the severely injured victim, who was trapped under the bus tyre. He was immediately given first aid and rushed to Udupi District Government Hospital by ambulance, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Kaup police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
