Udupi, Aug 5: MLA Yashpal Suvarna directed authorities concerned to immediately fill hazardous potholes to ensure smooth traffic movement, during the review meeting with MESCOM, PWD, NH and other department officials in city limits at Udupi City Municipal Council office.
During the meeting, Yashpal Suvarna addressing various civic issues within the Udupi City Municipal limits, instructed PWD officials to urgently repair roads damaged due to monsoon rains. He called for the expedited commencement of key infrastructure projects such as the Santhekatte underpass, the Ambalpady flyover, and the new service road project, which has already received approval. Additionally, he urged the start of work on the concreting of the Kelarkalabettu–Parkala stretch of NH-169A, Indrali Railway Bridge, and the Malpe–Adi Udupi Road, giving them high priority.


MLA Yashpal Suvarna directed MESCOM officials to prioritize quick restoration of electricity during storms and heavy rains. He emphasized the maintenance of streetlights, installation of new transformers, and deployment of essential personnel during emergencies.
MLA Yashpal Suvarna also directed the City Municipality to ensure 24x7 uninterrupted drinking water supply to all wards under the Varahi Project as per the agreement. In case of unavoidable disruptions, officials were asked to take immediate corrective action.
MLA Yashpal Suvarna further discussed the progress of the new housing complex built under the Karnataka Slum Development Board in Babbu Swamy Layout, Herga village. He reviewed the development of basic infrastructure including roads, drainage, and street lighting in the area.
The meeting was attended by Udupi CMC president Prabhakar Poojary, vice president Rajani Hebbar, Standing Committee chairman Sundar Kalmadi, CMC commissioner Mahantesh Hangaragi, members of various departments, and City Municipal Council members.
