Tears of joy as Shambhuraj Desai returns to childhood home 'Meghdoot'

Mumbai, Aug 5: In a deeply emotional and heartwarming moment, Maharashtra Tourism Minister and Shiv Sena leader Shambhuraj Desai stepped into his newly allotted government residence ‘Meghdoot’ — the very bungalow where he was born and raised over five decades ago.

The homecoming took place on Sunday, as Desai, joined by his family, officially moved into the Meghdoot bungalow under the Mahayuti government’s allotment. Adding to the significance of the moment, the housewarming ceremony coincided with his mother’s birthday, making the occasion even more touching for the family.

The Meghdoot bungalow was once the official residence of Desai’s grandfather, Loknete Balasaheb Desai, a former Home Minister of Maharashtra. It was during this period, 55 years ago, that Shambhuraj Desai was born in the same house.

The allotment was made following a personal request by Desai to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, both of whom approved his plea for the historic residence.

On Monday, Desai called on CM Fadnavis to express his gratitude for fulfilling his wish. He later took to Instagram to share glimpses of the meeting, along with heartfelt moments from his return to ‘Meghdoot.’

In another post, the minister offered a peek into his new beginnings, sharing pictures of him beginning official work from his iconic new address — one filled with memories, legacy, and fresh responsibilities.
