Beltangady, Aug 1: A case has been registered against a man for allegedly sharing a communally provocative message on social media that could disrupt communal harmony.

According to a police press release, the accused, identified as Rakshith Shetty, had uploaded a WhatsApp status that could incite enmity between religious communities and create fear. The content came to the attention of authorities on July 31 through social media.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady police station under Crime No. 69/2025, sections 353(1)(b) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Further legal action is underway.
