Hyderabad, Jul 31: In a disturbing incident, a 25-year-old woman working in the IT sector was allegedly raped by a man she had befriended on Instagram. The accused, identified as J. Siddha Reddy (24), hailing from Nalgonda and currently residing in Balanagar, lured the woman to his residence under the pretext of celebrating her birthday.

According to police, the two had been in touch for a month through Instagram and phone calls. On Wednesday, Reddy invited the woman to his home in Balanagar, where they consumed beer together. The woman later alleged that Reddy sexually assaulted her during the visit.

She managed to flee the house and immediately alerted the authorities. Responding swiftly, Balanagar police rescued the woman and registered a case.

“We have charged the accused with rape. He has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody,” Balanagar Circle Inspector Narasimha Raju told NDTV.

Reddy, police confirmed, was employed with a private IT firm in Hyderabad. An investigation is underway.
