Mangaluru, July 29: A case has been registered at the Dakshina Kannada district women’s police station after a video involving two minors, linked to an earlier case in Puttur, was circulated on social media and other platforms in violation of legal restrictions.

The original case (Crime No. 54/2025) had been filed at Puttur Town police station on July 5 involving a minor boy and a minor girl. Despite strict legal prohibitions on sharing media involving juveniles, unknown individuals and media platforms reportedly shared the video clip on social media.

Acting on a complaint filed by the father of the minor boy, the police obtained permission from the competent court and registered a fresh case (Crime No. 57/2025) on July 28, 2025, under Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act at the Dakshina Kannada district women’s police station.

Police have stated that further legal action will be taken against those found responsible for the circulation of the video.
