Traffic diversions announced in Vasco for Shree Damodar Saptah fest

Vasco, Jul 28: In view of the upcoming Shree Damodar Saptah festivities, the Vasco Traffic Police have rolled out major traffic diversions and parking restrictions across the city from July 30 to August 5.

As per an official statement from the Traffic Cell, Swatantrapath Road will be closed to all vehicular movement between St Andrew’s Church Junction and IOC Junction starting 1 pm on July 30 until the conclusion of the festival on August 5. Fr Joseph Vaz Road, stretching from Leena Hotel to the Old Electricity Office near Vasco Court, will also remain barricaded and inaccessible to vehicles.

Traffic to and from Vasco and Mormugao will be rerouted via F L Gomes Road at St Andrew’s Church Junction. Parking will be strictly prohibited on the stretch between the New KTC Bus Stand and St Andrew’s Church.

To accommodate festivalgoers, designated parking areas have been set up near Taniya Hotel, Tilak Maidan, the KTC Bus Stand, and the internal road from IOC Junction to MPT Gate No. 09. Additional parking space for both two and four-wheelers will be available at the open ground near Taniya Hotel.

To curb traffic congestion, the movement of heavy vehicles will be completely banned for 24 hours on July 30 and 31. From August 1 to 5, these vehicles will be restricted daily between 7 am and 11 pm.

Vehicles from Chicalim and Mangor heading into Vasco will be diverted via the Up Ramp Exit at Maharaja Hotel/HPCL Gate Junction onto F L Gomes Road, exiting through NH 566 towards Varunapuri, Verna, Margao, and Panaji.

The Vasco Traffic Police have called upon the public to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow the new routes to ensure a safe and smooth celebration period.
