World Grandparents Day celebrated at Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla

Bantwal, July 28: The Women’s Association and Women’s Commission of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Farla, jointly celebrated World Grandparents Day on Sunday, July 27.

The day began with a solemn Holy Mass offered by Fr Theodor D’Cunha and other priests. A stage programme was held following the Mass.

In his presidential address, parish priest Fr Mark Arun D’Souza commended the hard work and sacrifices of the elderly and congratulated the Women’s Association for organizing such a meaningful event.

Fr Theodor D’Cunha, Fr Gilbert Mascarenhas, resource person Sr Agnes Frank BS, parish pastoral council vice president Naveen Menezes, secretary Hilda Pereira, all commissions commissioner Sunitha Rodrigues, association president Irine D’Souza, and secretary Joyce D’Souza were present on the occasion.

An exhibition of medicinal plants was also organised, during which Sr Agnes Frank spoke about the practical uses of the plants in daily life.

The event concluded with a cultural programme and a special dinner featuring traditional dishes of the rainy season.

Sunita Baptist and Mrs Jyothi Sequeira compered the programme. The gathering was welcomed by the association secretary, and the vote of thanks was delivered by the president.
