Mangaluru, Jul 27: Holy Family Church, Omzoor, in collaboration with the Environment Commission organisers, joyfully celebrated Laudato Si Children’s Sunday on Sunday, July 27. The event aimed to instil environmental awareness and responsibility among children, inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si.
The day began with the celebration of the holy Mass, followed by a short yet impactful programme organised for the children of the parish. The gathering focused on the importance of caring for the environment and protecting our green motherland.

As a symbolic step towards this mission, plant saplings were distributed to all the children. The initiative encouraged them to plant and nurture the saplings at home with dedication.
Children were instructed to capture monthly photographs of the plant's growth and submit them after one year. During next year’s Laudato Si Sunday, students who successfully complete this green mission will be honoured with prizes in recognition of their efforts.
The event was graced by the presence of Fr Victor D’Souza, residential priest of Holy Family Church, Arther D’Souza, Dafney Lewis, Elroy Saldanha, Sr Luciana, Superior of the convent, along with catechism teachers and religious sisters who supported and encouraged the children throughout the event.
The celebration concluded on a hopeful note, with renewed enthusiasm to protect and preserve our environment, starting with the smallest hands and biggest hearts—our children.
