Mangaluru, Jul 25: The Dakshina Kannada district sand monitoring committee has decided to distribute sand stored in 15 identified and approved non-CRZ sand blocks to the public and for development projects through the DK Sand Bazaar App.

As per the directive of the deputy commissioner, a prior press release had already announced that those wishing to transport sand must register their vehicles on the DK Sand Bazaar App developed for the district. From March 16, 2025, the process of supplying sand through the app has officially commenced.

Public and project developers requiring sand can now place orders online via the DK Sand Bazaar App. A total of 3,30,405 metric tonnes of sand are available for mining across the 15 blocks as per environmental clearance certificates. However, as per the same clearances, sand mining is prohibited annually from June 5 to October 15. Accordingly, mining in these lease areas is currently suspended.

Out of the 27,550 metric tonnes of sand stored in designated stockyards, 12,126 metric tonnes have already been distributed via app-based bookings since March 2025. The remaining 15,424 metric tonnes are now available for booking through the website dksandbazaar.com.

The department clarified that under no circumstances is sand supply permitted outside the district. For technical issues related to booking, users may contact the helpline at 6364019555.
