Mangaluru, Jul 23: Ankit Sharma is a hotel security guard by profession, but at heart, he is a passionate dancer. For the past five years, he has been working in Mangaluru, standing watch at the entrance of Kadri Cafe, quietly ensuring the safety of guests and staff. Yet, behind the calm uniform and disciplined demeanour lies a soul that moves to the rhythm of music.

Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Ankit comes from a humble background where opportunities were scarce and dreams often had to take a backseat to survival. After completing his SSLC, he moved to Mangaluru in search of work and a chance to pursue his dreams. He initially worked as a security guard at Vanas Hotel before joining Kadri Cafe, where he continues to serve with dedication. But he never let go of his love for dance.

Ankit recently passed his 12th standard with 59%, completing his studies through online classes. He studied during his break hours, balancing both his job and his passion for dance. “Since childhood, I have loved dancing,” he says. “Back in Uttar Pradesh, there was not much support to grow in this field.”

He finds the people of Mangaluru warm and supportive. Ankit draws inspiration from Bollywood stars like Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan, learning dance moves by watching their videos on YouTube. One of his dance videos, featuring a performance from the movie War, went viral on social media, garnering over 331k views. He now runs his own YouTube channel to share his talent with a wider audience.

“I have been working as a security guard here for the past five years. Many customers recognize me for my dancing. I have built a good rapport with them,” says Ankit. “My passion for dance never faded, and now that I am uploading videos on social media, people are noticing me.”

Ankit is also grateful for the encouragement he receives at work. “My manager and the cafe’s owners are very supportive. They appreciate my talent and allow me time to pursue it during breaks.”

Rohan, the manager at Kadri Cafe, says, “Ankit is energetic and very sharp in his work. The owner and I fully support him. He is being recognized for his dancing talent, and we’re proud of that.”

Ankit’s journey is one of quiet perseverance, proving that passion does not fade in the face of hardship and that talent can shine even in the most unexpected places.
