Washington, Jul 21: In a controversial move, US President Donald Trump has stirred a political storm by sharing an AI-generated video showing Barack Obama being arrested by FBI agents inside the Oval Office.
Posted on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, the video opens with Obama saying, 'especially the President is above the law,' followed by various US politicians repeating, 'no one is above the law.' The clip then transitions to a digitally altered scene where Obama is handcuffed by FBI agents, with Trump watching and smiling. It ends with an image of Obama in an orange prison jumpsuit, behind bars.

The video, which Trump posted without any disclaimer noting it as fictional, has drawn sharp criticism from across the political spectrum. Detractors called it “deeply irresponsible,” accusing Trump of promoting disinformation at a time of heightened political tension.
The development comes on the heels of Trump’s repeated accusations against Obama, including a recent claim of “high-level election fraud.” Adding fuel to the fire, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard last week alleged that former Obama administration officials orchestrated the Trump-Russia collusion narrative after the 2016 election to sabotage Trump’s presidency. She demanded that those responsible be brought to trial.
“Americans will finally learn the truth about how in 2016, intelligence was politicised and weaponised by the most powerful people in the Obama administration,” Gabbard wrote on X, calling the act a “years-long coup” against Trump.
However, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has contradicted these claims. In a 114-page report, the ODNI stated that, prior to the 2016 election, the US intelligence community believed Russia was “probably not trying to influence the election” via cyber means. A December 8, 2016, intelligence brief also stated that Russia “did not impact recent US election results” through cyber attacks.
