Mangaluru, Jul 17: Doctors are the true guardians of a healthy society, and their selfless service is next only to divinity. Honouring doctors is not just a tradition, but a social responsibility, said Dr H R Thimmaiah, district health and family welfare officer, speaking at the Doctors' Day celebration organized by Prasad Netralaya Super Speciality Eye Hospital, Mangaluru, on July 10.
He inaugurated the event and highlighted how doctors play a pivotal role in saving lives and building a healthier society. He also stressed the importance of doctors balancing their demanding profession with family life to achieve holistic well-being.

Dr Krishna Prasad Kudlu, medical director of the Prasad Netralaya group of hospitals, presided over the programme. He explained the significance of Doctors' Day, the challenges faced by medical professionals today, and the importance of maintaining and upgrading medical equipment in healthcare delivery.
Taluk health officer Dr Sujay Kumar also spoke on the occasion. Managing director of the hospital group Rashmi Krishna Prasad, senior ophthalmologists and directors Dr Vikram Jain, Dr Harish Shetty, Dr Jacob Chacko, and Dr Shibin Girish graced the stage.
Manoj, public relations officer of the hospital, compered the event. Nutan welcomed the gathering, while Lakshit proposed a vote of thanks.
Veteran doctors felicitated
Senior doctors who have rendered exemplary service were honoured during the programme. The felicitated included Dr Norman Mendonca, Dr Aditya Bharadwaj, Dr Ajay Kudwa, Dr Sudheendra A N, Dr Harsha D S, Dr Durga Prasad Nayak Y G, Dr Divyalakshmi K S, Dr Prajakta Kulkarni, Dr Soujanya K, Dr Maya Natarajan, and Dr Preeti Ballal.
The hospital also honoured its in-house doctors for their dedicated service.
