Mangaluru, Jul 15: The Department of Social Work, School of Arts and Humanities, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru in association with Lions Club Mangalore and St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) held a programme "Mitti ke Sitaare" - celebrating the civic workers of Mangaluru City Corporation on July 14 in Sahodaya Hall of the University.
The students of MSW welcomed the gathering with a mesmerizing dance performance.



















Dr Alwyn D’Sa, vice chancellor-in charge, Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University, Anil Kumar, president, SACAA, Dr Paul Acquinus, secretary, Lion Club Mangalore, Dr Loveena Lobo, director of Maffie Block, Dr Rose Veera D’Souza, dean, School of Arts and Humanities, and Dr Shwetha Rasquinha, convenor of the programme were on the dais.
Dr Ronald Nazareth, in his speech, expressed his views on the education concept provided by St Aloysius University. He said that this is a unique program organised to recognise the services of the civic workers to mankind.
Dr Alwyn D’Sa, in his speech, shared his views about the programme and explained how the University is taking the initiative in recognising and honouring such real life heroes.
As a token of appreciation, gift hampers were distributed to the civic workers.
One of the civic workers shared his experience of the work and the difficulties faced in their field.
A total of 36 civic workers, students and staff of MSW were present for the programme.
After the formal programme, the MSW students put up an entertainment programme.
Dr Rameela Shekhar, member of Lions Club addressed the participants on mental health. Dr Shwetha Rasquinha welcomed the gathering. Students of MSW, Alister and Yashveer compered the programme. Neeradha proposed a vote of thanks.
