Udupi, Jul 11: A 30-day free ‘Navachetana Camp’ aimed at promoting the physical and mental well-being of selected police officers and staff from Udupi district is currently underway at Soukhyavana, the Shri Manjunatheshwara Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital located in Aathrady. The camp, which began on July 1, has been organized to help 71 police personnel attain better health and wellness.
The camp offers a range of daily health and fitness sessions. Each morning begins with a one-hour dynamic yoga session conducted by certified trainers from Soukhyavana. This is followed by an hour of physical training led by instructors from the police training school.

The personnel were selected based on their body mass index (BMI). Those who were above the average BMI were sent to the camp. Based on the results, many police personnel have now started improving their eating habits and have adopted a healthier lifestyle.
Fitness coaching is being provided by Umesh Mattu from the department of youth empowerment, while Zumba sessions are conducted by Sinchana Prakash from Swag Dance Academy.
In addition to physical activities, health talks by subject experts from various fields are being organized to spread awareness about holistic well-being. Participants also engage in a daily evening nature walk for an hour.
Where necessary, physiotherapy and steam bath treatments are also being administered. Importantly, the camp ensures that all participants are provided with a strictly regulated dietary food plan.
The camp has successfully completed its first 10 days, with 20 days of training yet to go. The initiative has been well-received and is seen as a positive step toward enhancing the fitness and health of police personnel in the district.
