Mangaluru, Jul 9: The District Legal Services Authority, Dakshina Kannada District, Dakshina Kannada District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department, District Mental Health Programme, Taluk Health Office, Mangalore, Link Addiction Free and Rehabilitation Centre, Bajal Mangalore and St Aloysius Deemed University, Mangalore jointly organised “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking-2025” on July 9 at Eric Mathais Hall of the University.
Jaibunnisa, senior civil judge and member secretary, District Legal Services Authority, D K Mangalore inaugurated the programme. Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), presided over the programme.












Inaugurating the programme, Jaibunnisa spoke about drug addiction and its illegal trafficking. Speaking about drug addicts, she spoke about the crimes that occur due to it and the types of addictions that the youth fall prey to. She spoke about the youth resorting to drugs in times of extreme anxiety or stress. Also, young men and women resort to drugs even to try it once. She said that it is the duty of all of us to prevent such activities.

Ulepady, District Health Education officer, DK Mangaluru, Lydia Lobo, Link Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts, etc were present on the dais.
Dr Sudarshan C M, district mental health programme implementation officer and staff of Link Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts, Bajal, Mangaluru, were present in the programme.
On this occasion, Dr Satish Rao administered the oath against drug abuse and illegal trafficking.
Jyothi K Ulepady compered the programme. NSS programme officer, St Aloysius Deemed University, Carel Sharal Pereira, welcomed the gathering. Dr Sujay Bhandari proposed the vote of thanks.
