Nagpur, Jul 6: Tension has gripped parts of Nagpur and Kamptee after the dramatic fallout within the notorious Ippa gang, following the death of their leader’s wife in a tragic accident.
Police said Arshad Topi, a gang member, had been having a secret affair with the wife of the gang’s chief. On Thursday, the two had gone out together on a bike when they met with an accident. A JCB machine reportedly rammed into the two-wheeler, injuring Topi lightly but grievously wounding the woman.

The woman was rushed to Nagpur’s Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after being denied treatment at two private hospitals. CCTV footage confirmed Topi brought her to GMCH, where she later died on Friday.
With the news of her death spreading, the gang turned against Topi, accusing him of betrayal and even murder. Police said around 40 members of the gang are now hunting for him. Fearing for his life, Topi sought protection at the DCP’s office in Pardi and later approached Koradi police, where his statement was recorded.
Investigating officers have so far concluded that the woman died due to accident-related injuries, with no evidence of foul play. Topi has since gone into hiding. Police are monitoring the situation closely.
